In the past, I used to think that design is simply making logos and concluded that the design is also quite easy. After learning about the basics of design, I realized that design consists of a lot of elements combined, and that enlightens me to a more interesting and in-depth perspective on design. Taking the 2 examples below for analysis, I will show how differences in design will lead to differences in content.

Firstly, with Vogue's magazines (Figure 1), they design in a really liberal way. Outsiders who look at it will feel comfortable and not be bound to receive the magazine's information. Vogue's designers used many colors in 2 pages such as: red, yellow, black, white, rose gold, etc. Colors are used very flexibly and it blends with the theme, expressing the emotion that the article wants to convey to the viewers. Each page shows an emotion, the first page everyone will see the lightness and joy, the second page everyone will see a very dynamic photo. However, viewers will be distracted and confused while trying to read the text. In terms of fonts, Vogue's designer chose Serif fonts in combination with some other bold fonts, expressed in both lowercase and italics. The diversity of typefaces will draw attention from readers and make them feel more interested in reading. Vogue's magazines are usually decorated in a gallery or photo collage style. This creates a very unique inspiration of fashion magazines.

Secondly, with Forbes's magazine (Figure 2), we can see other way of design which is illustrated in a more informative way than Vogue's magazine. In terms of their color, they are mostly basic colors or bass colors because they are more aimed at the details of the topic than aesthetically. The strength of this layout is that the reader will not miss the information when reading, but presenting too many words will sometimes cause boredom while reading.

Designers of Forbes didn't use and combine many fonts, they also used Serif font as Vogue but in a more formal way. Forbes' presentation will be more relevant to their content, which is about the economy and the topics in the direction of reporting.

In terms of my personality, I prefer to follow Vogue's style because it's so liberal and creative. Forbes will provide viewers with enough information, but I want viewers to feel as interesting as when they read a poem or text.
